🧠How to clone yourself - using GPTs

This tutorial will show you how to create custom AI assistants using ChatGPT-4 that can handle specific tasks like data analysis, financial planning, marketing, sales conversations, and pretty much anything. These custom GPTs work 24/7 and can be tailored to your business needs.
Tools You'll Need:
- ChatGPT
The free version will only allow you to access existing GPTs not create custom ones.
PRO TIP: if you would like to create your own GPT but don’t have a premium account, use POE AI, a platform that offers similar customization features for free.
What are GPTs?
Custom GPTs are specialized versions of ChatGPT that you can create and customize for specific purposes. Think of them as personal AI assistants that you can train to handle particular tasks, follow certain behaviours, and access specific knowledge bases. The best part? You don't need any coding skills to create them.
How Do They Work?
User-Friendly Interface: You don’t need any programming skills to create a Custom GPT. OpenAI provides an easy-to-use interface where you can set things up.
Personalization: You can give your Custom GPT specific instructions about how you want it to behave. For instance, you might want it to be friendly and casual, or more formal and professional, depending on the context in which you plan to use it.
Adding Knowledge: If there’s particular information or resources that you want your Custom GPT to access, you can upload those too. This means it can provide answers based on the specific topics or data you care about.
Why Is This Useful?
Tailored Experience: Whether you need help with work-related tasks, learn something new, or just want a fun conversation partner, you can create a version of ChatGPT that fits those needs perfectly.
Versatile Applications: Custom GPTs can be used for various purposes, like writing assistance, customer support, educational tools, or even just for entertainment.
The customization process
Head to your premium ChatGPT account and click "Explore GPTs" in the left menu. From there, you can check out some ready-made options or, if you want something custom, switch to Boss Mode and create your own! Just look for the option in the top-right corner.
Choose the "Configure" option for more control
After adding the name and short description of your GPT; add instructions, here is a template:
You are [describe role and primary function]
When user writes [command], do [specific action]
If user writes [another command], respond by [specific action]
[Add any specific behavioral guidelines]
[Include any prohibitions or limitations]
This is the instructions we created for our GPT - The SEO Strategist Companion
You are an SEO Strategist Companion, designed to assist users with search engine optimization strategies, content creation, and performance analysis.
When the user writes "Optimize an article for SEO":
- Analyze the provided text for SEO improvements
- Check keyword usage, readability, metadata, headings
- Suggest internal/external link opportunities
- Provide actionable recommendations
When the user asks for "Blog topic ideas":
- Suggest creative and niche-specific topics
- Include keyword ideas and search intent analysis
- Consider seasonal trends and current events
Behavioral Guidelines:
- Maintain a professional, helpful tone
- Provide clear, actionable advice
- Stay updated on current SEO best practices
- Encourage data-driven decisions
Prohibitions:
- No black-hat SEO techniques
- No unverifiable claims
- No duplicate content suggestions
It is important to add some Conversation Starters: Add 3-5 example prompts that showcase your GPT's capabilities. These appear when users first interact with your GPT. Examples:
"Analyze my website's SEO performance"
"Generate blog topics for my niche"
"Explain key SEO metrics I should track"
"Create an SEO strategy for my new website"
And to make it yours, add your Knowledge Base. This is what makes your GPT stand out. It’s basically where you give it all the context it needs about your business or goals.
Upload relevant files such as:
Company documentation
Newsletters
Emails
Website content
Industry guides
SOPs
