🧠 How to automate your newsletter marketing using AI

Tools You'll Need:

• Google Sheets (for your knowledge source)

• Zapier (to build the automation flow)

• Claude (for connecting AI)

• ChatGPT (also for connecting AI)

• Mailterlite (or any email marketing platform of your choice)

The Complete 6-Step Automation Process:

Here’s the quick overview followed by the details

1. Set Up the Trigger 📋

So take all your research notes, transcription of a youtube video or just basically gather the notes you want to turn into a newsletter. Add those notes to a new row in google sheet. As soon a new row is added in google sheet, the automation flow will be triggered.

2. Generate Newsletter Content with Claude AI ✍️

Research notes are sent to Claude AI with our master prompt to turn the notes into an engaging newsletter.

In the prompt, we’re asking the AI to make the newsletter fun, educational and authentically include any call to action as desired.

here's the prompt we used:

"turn the transcript below into a bite sized newsletter. We don't need to mention all the take aways from the transcript just top 3. Make the newsletter format fun and educational to read. The primary goal is educate the readers only. Start with a title line then a quick introduction paragraph. Then, list 3 key take aways from the transcript. Finish off with 1 liner call to action for [description of your product]. Make sure you create a call to action that just flows with he content of the newsletter so it doesn't seem salesy "

3. Craft Catchy Subject Lines with ChatGPT 📮

Using the newsletter content from Step 2, ChatGPT generates attention-grabbing subject lines that boost open rates.
You can perform the same step using Claude as well.

Here’s the prompt we used:

“For my newsletter content below, write a clever subject line inspired from newsletters like The Hustle or Morning Brew. Just remember my audience is students who want to improve their learning methods.”

4. Clean Up the Content 🧹

An additional step using ChatGPT removes any system messages or conversational text, ensuring the newsletter is polished and professional.

5. Create Beautiful HTML Format 🎨

The content transforms into a well-structured HTML template that matches the brand colours and styling, ensuring consistency across all newsletters.

6. Generate MailerLite Campaign ⚡

The final step automatically creates a campaign in MailerLite (or your preferred email marketing platform) with the subject line and formatted content ready to go!

7. Review & Send off

Just review your email draft in your email marketing software and send it away. AI is great but it can make mistakes so I’d recommend doing a final human review before sending it!
